Just another reason why I love Chicago.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are slated to perform classic album Born to Run IN ITS ENTIRETY in the Windy City on September 20 at the United Center. I wonder if they're doing this for all the haters who get mad when the Boss and Company play new music and skip over less-mass-appreciated tracks like "Jungleland" and "Tenth Avenue Freezeout" (although I can recall being royally miffed when I did not get to hear "Rosalita" the first time I saw them in concert).
Supposedly, Springsteen and the E Street Band could also be planning other "Album Concerts" in other cities. The Boss likes a working-class, blue-collar town like Pittsburgh. Oh how I'd love to see a solo concert of Nebraska!
I got to see Camera Obscura last night at Mr. Small's theatre in Millvale, Pa. Mr. Small's was the final stop on their tour in support of My Maudlin Career.
I experienced music nirvana three times: once, when they covered Bruce Springsteen's "Tougher than the Rest" (two of my favorite artists together at last); secondly, when they performed "Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken," with the celestial organ sounds reverberating in Mr. Small's (a church converted into an Indie Rock venue); thirdly, when I snagged the set list.
Here's the group playing "Lloyd" on a stop in Mexico City:
