While I was in Florida, in the area where the show Nip/Tuck was supposed to take place (before they jumped the shark and moved to L.A.), I discovered that even the mannequins are bigger and more "beautiful."
I am probably one of only three people who didn't watch the Super Bowl last night. For those who don't know me, my Super Bowl equivalent is Oscar night.
However, I was upset when I realized that I missed Bruce Springsteen's half-time show. Yes, I am a gal who lives on E Street. I've seen The Boss twice in concert, and he never disappoints. Through the magic of YouTube, I was able to watch the performance mere moments after it aired. I remember when missing something on television meant. . .you simply missed it -- never to see it again (unless you taped it with your "VCR"). I love today's technology, where nothing is special and any moment in popular culture or history can be recalled at the touch of a mouse (this sounds sarcastic, but I'm somewhat serious). Being a voyeuristic culture has its benefits.
Here's Bruce's kickass half-time performance:
One, LOVED the Bruce crotch shot into the camera and the provocative stance he took with the microphone stand in the beginning (this man is almost 60, people!). Bruce may not have strategically placed the guitar against his body as if it were a big wang (I'm looking at you Prince), but he still managed to combine sex and rock n' roll without making it Nipplegate (hey there, Ms. Jackson). Two, I got chills when Clarence Clemons sang, "And kid you better get the picture."
This was one of the more entertaining half-time shows in recent memory. The Super Bowl has come a long way since Aerosmith, 'N Sync, and Britney Spears took the stage together, in the most dysfuncational musical family ever. That performance always reminds me of The Simpsons' episode where Bart is watching a half-time show and says, "Where are the snipers?"
