I wish the Pie-maker would touch the show. . .
Yesterday, while catching up on a few of the television shows I missed last week, I watched ABC's Pushing Daisies. Although I was aware of its impending demise, I had no idea it would end so abruptly (for those who haven't watched it yet, I'm going to spoil the HELL out of it for you).
Long story short, Chuck's dad comes back to life (via Ned) and runs away, holding the power to reveal Ned's secret and destroy everything.
And that's how it ends -- with Charles Charles driving away in a cloud of snow and exhaust, leaving Ned and Chuck with shocked close-ups.
I thought maybe ABC would have one more episode in them, but it turns out that that's it. No more (unless by some miracle another station picks up this delightful show). How am I and viewers alike supposed to go on, not knowing how their story ends?
And it gets worse. Creator Bryan Fuller has already gone back to Heroes, leaving virtually no prayer for the Daisies to ever grow again. While in the past beloved cult-followings have been cancelled (Arrested Development, Family Guy, Jericho), this is the first time where there is simply no talk of any resolution nor denouement. Fans are forced to be left with simply imagining what happens to Ned and Chuck. Even though Fuller has talked of Pushing Daisies in comic book form, I think I speak for most fans when I say that I would like to see a finale on the small screen, where loose ends are tied up (although two or three more seasons was the original ideal).
Meanwhile, Private Practice stays on the air, going against everything that is right with the world. Really, who watches this show? Does ABC have a "hot people lacking in substance" quota to fill for the network? And wasn't this show struggling in the ratings as well? I say, if you're going to put three or four shows out of their ratings-misery, take them all down -- this one included.
So while I don't have any clout with ABC, I implore them to reconsider some sort of finale for this show, for the sake of viewers, for the sake of my sanity. I always imagined the show ending with Ned dying and then touching himself and bringing himself back to life, ridding him of his power so that he would be able to be with Chuck. Wouldn't you love to see them finally kiss without Saran Wrap between them?
Or since ABC insists that Practice is entertaining (force-feeding it down our throats with desperate previews during every commercial break), why not include them in the proposed series finale of Pushing Daisies. I personally would love to see Kate Walsh's Dr. Addison Montgomery at the morgue, brought back to life for a minute, only to be gone forever at the slightest touch. In fact, include the whole Grey's crew in the mix. Let's finally reunite Izzie with Denny for good.

I watched the show from time to time. It was beautifully crafted and original. perhaps too much so for it to really take off. I was saddened to hear of its canceling.
Do people really watch private practive? It's just not all that, its missing something and I'm surprised it hasn't been canceled yet.
