Alicia is the new Meg?
I think Amy Winehouse may have had it right.
Back in August, she claimed that the Bond song she recorded was turned down because it wasn't "clean cut and boring" like Jack White and Alicia Keys' chosen one, "Another Day to Die." P.S. Isn't the title "Another Day to Die" an anagram for Madonna's "Die Another Day"? This song almost appears as if it were thrown together and strongly lacks an appearance by Meg White, beating the drums like a little kid who just got her first drum set for Christmas. I feel like "The White Keys" are both competing with two different song ideas in this video. And nothing really comes of it.
Is it just me or do the Bond songs just keep getting worse and worse? I personally would have loved to have seen a sultry song from Winehouse, something that sounds "Va Va Va VOOM" even when she looks like the skeleton hanging in your eighth grade Biology class.
Bring back the days of Bond theme greatness. Give me Carly Simon's "Nobody Does it Better." Or Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die." Or -- my personal favorite -- Duran Duran's "A View to a Kill." The Bond themes are digressing so poorly that we are headed into Jessica Simpson territory, folks. Or worse -- Ashlee.
